- Authentication Information: When you sign in using Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture URL.
- Location Data: This is the core of our application. We collect your precise GPS coordinates.
2. Background Location Usage
FindMyWay offers a "Live Location Sharing" feature. To make this work effectively:
- We collect location data even when the app is running in the background or closed, but ONLY if you have explicitly enabled location sharing and a friend you have approved is actively viewing your position.
- This information is used solely to update your position on the map for your designated friends.
3. How We Use Your Information
Your data is used for the following purposes:
- To display your current position on the campus map for your own navigation.
- To share your live location with specific friends you have accepted in the app.
- To allow you to search for rooms, buildings, and landmarks on campus.
- To sync your academic calendar events with campus locations.
4. Data Storage and Security
We use industry-standard cloud providers to store your data:
- Firebase: Used for authentication and real-time signaling for location watch requests.
- Appwrite: Used to store temporary user location coordinates (x, y) for sharing with friends.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
5. Your Rights and Choices
You have full control over your data within the app:
- Toggle Sharing: You can disable global location sharing at any time from the Settings or Friends screen.
- Manage Friends: You can choose exactly who can see your location and remove friends at any time.
- Account Deletion: You may request account deletion by contacting us, which will remove all your data from our servers.
